Trust & safety

Trust is the whole product.

ShiftSee connects people with other people. We take that seriously. Here's how we protect everyone on the platform.

Identity verification

Payment identity verified through Stripe.

Before a shifter can receive payouts on ShiftSee, they complete Stripe's standard payment identity process. This confirms payment-account identity and is required for Stripe Connect payouts.

ShiftSee does not perform criminal background checks, employment verification, licensing verification, reference checks, or work authorization checks. Businesses remain responsible for any role-specific screening they require, and ShiftSee's profile system gives them the tools to make that call: shift history, reliability scores, on-time percentage, reviews from other businesses, and optional skills and certifications uploaded by the shifter.

For roles that require credentials (food handler cards, bartending licenses, CPR), shifters can upload those documents to their profile for connected businesses to review.

Reputation systems

Work speaks for itself.

Every completed shift on ShiftSee includes a two-way review. Businesses rate shifters. Shifters rate businesses. Patterns emerge over time, and they're public (with privacy protections on individual identity).

Dispute resolution

Something went wrong. What now?

When something goes wrong, you can report it via email or directly through your dashboard. Issues include:

What happens when you report: a founder reviews every dispute personally. Our target is a same-day response on safety issues and a one-business-day response on everything else. As we grow, we'll formalize this with on-call rotation and a publicly tracked SLA.

File a report

We err on the side of protecting the more vulnerable party in any given dispute. In most cases this means the shifter, since the power imbalance tends to favor the business.

Serious violations result in platform removal. Harassment, dishonest no-shows, wage theft, safety violations, any of these get you removed, permanently.

Working conditions

What we won't tolerate.

ShiftSee connects businesses and workers. We're not the employer. But we set the rules for how our platform can be used, and we enforce them.

Businesses agree
  • Pay the agreed rate in full and on time
  • Provide safe working conditions
  • Don't discriminate on race, gender, orientation, age, disability, or any protected class
  • Don't retaliate against a shifter for a rating or review
Shifters agree
  • Show up on time and sober
  • Complete the work as agreed
  • Don't discriminate in choosing businesses to work with
  • Don't harass businesses or other shifters

Violations of either side's agreement can result in suspension or removal.
